This guide explains how to connect ListeningMind data to ChatGPT using ChatGPT’s custom MCP connector.Requirements
To use ChatGPT custom apps and MCP servers, you must be subscribed to a paid ChatGPT plan- Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu.
For Business / Enterprise workspaces, only Owner or Admin accounts can create and manage apps. After creation, the app can be shared with workspace members.
In ChatGPT, go to Account → Settings → Apps.
Click Advanced Settings, enable Developer Mode, then click Create App.
Fill in the following required information:
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Name | ListeningMind |
Description (optional) | ListeningMind MCP is an integrated consumer analytics and marketing strategy platform powered by search data. It provides actionable insights across consumer behavior analysis, marketing strategy development, content creation, and product planning. |
MCP Server URL | |
Authentication | Select OAuth. (Do not enter Client ID or Client Secret.) |
Check the consent box and click Create.
You will be redirected to the ListeningMind login page.Log in using an account with an active ListeningMind paid plan and an approved MCP server usage request.
Once authentication is complete, the MCP server connection is established.
In the chat window, click + → More to confirm that the ListeningMind MCP server is available.
For best results, include explicit instructions in your prompt, such as “Use the ListeningMind MCP server to…”, since ChatGPT may not always automatically select the MCP server.
MCP-connected apps can only be used in Developer Mode chats
You must keep Developer Mode enabled to continue using the MCP server
Only Owner or Admin accounts have permission to add apps connected to an MCP server.
After creating the app, it must be published in order for workspace users with Member permissions to use it.
Once the app is published, the MCP server will be available in standard chat (non-Developer Mode) conversations.
Open the app settings page
Click the ··· (More) button
Select Publish
Review the consent information and confirm
Once published, the MCP server should be available in standard (non-Developer Mode) chats.
Due to a current ChatGPT issue, workspace members may not see the published MCP app, even after successful publishing.
Go to Account → Workspace Settings → Apps
Select the created app
In the app details panel, click Show in Directory
Copy the URL from the newly opened page
