Labs | Keyword Gap

Compare your brand’s organic keywords with those of your competitors to discover missed opportunities.

The Keyword Gap feature allows you to compare your brand’s and competitors’ organic keywords and potential traffic.

You can view, at a glance, up to five domains and the organic keywords that appear within the top 10 positions of Google search results. For each keyword, you can also check how each analyzed domain ranks in the search results.

By comparing your domain with business, category, or content competitors, you can diagnose your current status and gain insights for developing a stronger content strategy.

The Keyword Gap feature provides the following indicators:

  • Search VolumeThe average monthly search volume collected from Google.Serves as the base indicator for estimating traffic and shows the size of keyword demand.

  • RankThe position at which the domain appears in Google search results.Only ranks 1–10 are displayed. Keywords ranking outside the top 10 or not appearing at all are shown as “–”.The domain with the highest rank among the compared domains is marked with a crown icon .

  • TrafficEstimated organic traffic, calculated by considering search volume, rank, and SERP result type.Represents the estimated number of visits that each keyword contributes to a domain page, and can be used for relative comparison between domains.

Separate your own and competitor domains.

  • Own Domain: The reference domain for comparison (e.g., your brand’s owned media site)

  • Competitor Domain(s): Domains to compare against (up to 4)

The domain check type determines the scope of content included in the analysis. It is set automatically when a domain is entered but can be changed manually if needed.

  1. Root Domain:The primary domain, including all subdomains and subdirectories.Example: *.abc.com/* → includes abc.com and all subdomains and subdirectories.

  2. Subdomain:Includes all pages within a specific subdomain.Example: shop.abc.com/* → includes all pages under shop.abc.com.Useful when subdomains are separated by business unit.

  3. Subdirectory:Includes only a specific directory (folder) and its subpages.Example: abc.com/product/* → includes all pages under /product/.Useful for focusing comparisons within a specific category.

  4. Exact URL:Targets a single specific URL.Example: abc.com/product/shoes/123 → analyzes this URL only.
