Connecting the MCP Server to Copilot

Use the Copilot custom agent to connect and access ListeningMind data through the MCP Server.

This guide explains how to integrate ListeningMind’s MCP Server with Microsoft 365 Copilot using Copilot Studio.

To use the custom agent feature, you must have a Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise plan that includes Copilot Chat.

To link external data to Copilot, you’ll first need to create an agent in Copilot Studio.

  1. In the left-hand menu, select Agents.

  2. Click Create blank agent.

  3. Enter the basic information for your agent:

    • Name: Enter a name that clearly identifies the ListeningMind data source (e.g., ListeningMind).

  1. In the top sub-menu, go to the Tools tab and click Add tool.

  2. In the pop-up window, click New tool.

  3. Select Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Enter the following details for the MCP Server, then click Create:

  1. Click Create new connection for the MCP server.

  2. On the next screen, click Create again — this will redirect you to the ListeningMind login page.

  3. Log in with a ListeningMind account that has an active paid plan.

Once the connection is established, click Add and configure to complete setup.

In the Tools tab, open Additional details for the added MCP server. Under Credentials to use, select Make server-provided credentials so that users don’t have to reauthenticate every time they start a new conversation.

After adding the MCP server as a tool, click ensure Force newest version is selected and press Publish. If the publish button is disabled, refresh the page and try again.

  1. In the top sub-menu, go to the Channels tab.

  2. Click Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

  3. Enable the option to make the agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot.

  4. Click Add channel.

  5. Edit the agent details as needed using Edit details.

  6. Click View agent in Microsoft 365.

Once the M365 Copilot page opens, you can add the agent directly. You can then start querying the agent in Copilot chat to receive responses powered by ListeningMind data.

Tip:Copilot’s AI tools may not always know whether to use the MCP server or perform a web search. For best results, include explicit instructions in your prompt, such as:

“Use the ListeningMind MCP Server to retrieve search intent clustering data about diet protein drinks.”
